Anneli Rätsep graduated as a medical doctor from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Tartu, Estonia in 1996, and in 2001 finished studies in family medicine residency training. In 2009, he defended her doctoral thesis on ” Type 2 Diabetes Care in Family Medicine”. Since 2002, Anneli has been teaching medical students, pharmacists, nurses and nurses at Institute of Family Medicine and Public Health of University of Tartu as an Associate Professor and Senior Research Fellow. Anneli’s research and teaching activities are related to the treatment of a patient with chronic diseases (diabetes, hypertension, overweight), medical communication and motivational interviewing.
Anneli started her motivational interviewing (MI) studies since 2010 and became a trainer of MI in 2013 and is also a member of the international network of coaches MINT and cofounder of Estonian Association of Trainers of Motivational Interviewing. She is also a member of International Association for Communication in Health (EACH).
